Tega Industries Ltd is in the business of design, manufacturing and supply of hydrocyclones and radial systems for the last 12 years.
Beginning as Richard Mozley (India) Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Richard Mozley Ltd., U.K. in 1995, the company absorbed the technology over the next 8 years and designed, supplied, installed hydrocyclones in the Indian market. In 2004 because of buyout of the parent company in U.K, the company in India was acquired by Tega and merged with the parent company Tega Industries Limited. Since then further developments has been made in the products including developing large dia cyclones (15”, 26” & 36”). A improved software for hydrocyclone has been developed in collaboration with Dr. B. K. Mishra at IIT, Kanpur (at present he is Director at Indian Minerals and Metals Institute, Bhubaneswar). The development process is continuing and we are working with Indian School Of Mines, Dhanbad for model development of our water-only-cyclones.
Our hydrocyclones and water-only-cyclones are working all over the country and we have also exported our hydrocyclones to Ghana, Malaysia though on a very limited scale. Our cyclones are normally made in Polyurethane or rubber. Casing is provided for cyclones above 10”. These casing are made of stainless steel or M.S. In Coal application and other applications where wear is a major factor, our cyclones are lined with cast cryston, which is a special grade of Silicon Carbide. This material can withstand temperature of 1500-16000C. In special circumstances, high pH (less than 4) and high temperature (around 1200C), we have supplied cyclones totally in stainless steel also.
At the moment we hold the largest share of cyclone market in the country (around 70%). Our cyclones are operating in iron ore, coal, chromite, alumina, beach sands clay etc. We have developed unique application whereby marginal recoveries (5–8% of ROM) have been made possible in iron ore and chromite. Our cyclones are extensively being used in coal washing, for fine coal dewatering with significant benefit to the customer in terms of reduction in flocculent consumption and additional coal recovery.
All alumina refineries in this country are using our hydrocyclone for classification and thickening applications. In some plants we have replaced hydrocyclones supplied by overseas companies. Infact our hydrocyclones have been tested in all major minerals and ores and satisfactory performance have been obtained. Hydrocyclone selection at Tega Industries Ltd is undertaken either with the help of simulation programme based on data obtained from client or based on test work in our laboratory. We have set up extensive laboratory facilities and pilot plant where cyclones from 1” to 15” can be utilized for test work. In some cases we conduct test work at site to re-confirm the data obtained from either simulation or laboratory trials. In almost all our installations the selection of hydrocyclone has been accurate and performance as predicted unless there has been a change in feed characteristics.
